Introducing Newport Harbour

Newport Harbour Care Centre is a beautiful and modern long-term care facility located in Calgary, Alberta, at 10 Country Village Cove, N.E. Our Care Centre is home to 131 Residents.

As professional care givers, we are committed to meeting the needs of all residents, regardless of race, nationality or religion. Our goal is to provide the best standards of care to each Resident, who we recognize as a unique individual with physical, psychological, spiritual and social needs. We believe each Resident has the right to be treated with dignity and respect. We will strive to maintain the highest degree of independence for our residents by ensuring a safe, clean, and secure environment that is conducive to self-expression, choice and open communication.

Newport Harbour Care Centre is fully accredited and also adheres to the Alberta provincial government standards for Continuing Care Centres as outlined by Alberta Health and Wellness.

Our beautiful lakefront grounds and elegant building make us the first choice for many families and individuals seeking continuing care. Please note that at present, there is a waiting list for all our government subsidized spaces.

Non- Publicly Funded Beds

Volunteering

Newport Harbour Care Centre has approximately 50 volunteers who are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of all our residents. Volunteers have the opportunity to fill the following roles:

• Outings:
  

  Newport’s Recreation Department has an average of 4 outings per month which could always use the assistance of volunteers. Volunteers could assist with day trips out of town, lunch outings and seasonal events such as the Stampede, Zoo or Christmas Light Tours.

• Pastoral Care:
  

  At Newport Harbour Care Centre we recognize that spirituality is an important part of the lives of our residents. Many of our spiritual programs are volunteer ran and always have high attendance. Catholic, Anglican and Interdenominational services are offered here at Newport Harbour; please take a look at the calendar for further information.

• In-house Programs:
  

  We offer a variety of in house programs that cover the focus groups of Emotional, Cognitive, Divers ional, Community Awareness and Life Skills….just to name a few. An example of programs would be; Bingo, Birthday Parties, Happy Hours and Special Entertainments.

• Beauty Salon:
  

  The beauty salon is a fee for service that is located in the facility and is open to all residents. We encourage volunteers to help the residents go to and from their appointments and perhaps assisting the beauty salon specialist with small tasks, while enjoying one to one time with residents.

Departments

Newport Harbour employs nurses, care aides and professionals in management, dietary, recreation and physiotherapy. More information on our individual departments will be added shortly.
